Villain Logo / Identity
CINEMA 4D, Illustrator, Photoshop
January 2009

Our new logo identity for a startup motion/CG studio called Villain. We are obviously going for a futuristic/WWII era look and feel (if you can wrap your head around that), and are trying to invoke a sense of stark darkness and cold, with just a pinch of evil. This is just a splash page for our site, for now.

I mainly designed the flat artwork in Illustrator, brought all the elements into photoshop on separate layers and made my diffuse, spec, normal, reflection, and displacement maps from there.

Mapped that onto a plane in C4D, then warmed and tweaked, tweaked, tweaked to get the badge looking good.

I then modeled the lapel of a thick, wool peacoat and used Cinema's HAIR module (on top of a tiled wool texture I made), to give it that itchy, cold-weather look.

More to come very soon as we flesh out the rest of our Identity.
